Problems most illegal drug users face are the quality of the drugs they purchase. Some people lace drugs with other ingredients to either improve or change the effects they make on a person. People can be bribed and put in situations where drug cartels have major influences in that region and law enforcement has most likely been paid off. There is no situation worse for a citizen than lack of protection against drug lords. Racism plays a major role in the drug war as well. â€Å"Although rates of drug use and selling are comparable across racial lines, people of color are far more likely to be stopped, searched, arrested, prosecuted, convicted and incarcerated for drug violations than white people are.â€Å" â€Å"A proportion of people incarcerated for a drug offense in a state prison that are black or Hispanic, 61 percent† (â€Å"Drug War Statistics†2014). This ongoing drug war is not the solution for the safety of our people. People are sadly dying due to the aftermath of a drug deal gone wrong.
